32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering.
I think I'm more mature in my faith today than I was as a teenager. I sure hope so after all of these years. But this versus reminded me of the new and exciting feeling as a young Christian not that I endured any great conflict but just the enthusiasm I had about my faith. It makes me think I need to get more of that enthusiasm and energy back into my faith and avoid the tramp of going through the motions.

i was a little confused by that verse. But, i looked it up in the message.
ReplyDelete32-39 Remember those early days after you first saw the light? Those were the hard times! Kicked around in public, targets of every kind of abuse—some days it was you, other days your friends. If some friends went to prison, you stuck by them. If some enemies broke in and seized your goods, you let them go with a smile, knowing they couldn’t touch your real treasure. Nothing they did bothered you, nothing set you back. So don’t throw it all away now. You were sure of yourselves then. It’s still a sure thing! But you need to stick it out, staying with God’s plan so you’ll be there for the promised completion.
I can't say I was ever persecuted to that level. Probably because of the people I surrounded myself with. Just sayin'
