Psalm 19-21

in keeping up the pace of going through Psalm I read 19-21 today.

Chapter 19

The fear of the Lord is pure,
    enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
    and all of them are righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
    than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
    than honey from the honeycomb.

I normally blow past words like these but today I was just thinking how  God inspired David to share how important the instructions are that are laid out in the Bible in a way that humans should be able to understand---yet I usually don't take the time to consider.

God's words are more precious than gold, if I had a lot of gold I'm pretty sure I would know where it all is and keep it in a safe place.  Do I know where all of his decrees are for me within the bible?--no but probably should.

Sweeter than honey, seems like something I should want to eat up and  digest and feed my body.  Do I read and consume the words and decrees in the bible---trying to daily, so for the past year and a half I'm doing better than ever but have a ways to go.

have a good day and weekend!

  1. its pretty funny to think about craving the word of God, like sweet honey, isn't it?......I don't look at it that way. At least not yet.

    Here's my take on todays stuff.
    1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
    2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
    3 They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
    4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.
    In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
    5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
    like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
    6 It rises at one end of the heavens
    and makes its circuit to the other;
    nothing is deprived of its warmth.

    its a lot to copy/paste. But, this really struck me. I've been having this really strong impulse lately to try to help people understand that God and science aren't on opposite ends of the spectrum. I think when the end comes or when my end comes....I will see God as the unification of all math/science as well as a loving creator of the universe. It makes me laugh to hear people talk about science outside of the God. God is the one that put all those rules into place. If you are creating something as complicated as the UNIVERSE....you would need to create some solid rules/truths/boundaries to work within. Those first couple of verses reminded me that the universe in all its splendor is screaming for a creator......

    have a great weekend!

  2. great take. sometimes i let today's science create doubt in my mind then I think these are the same people that said eggs are good, eggs are bad, eggs are good...which one are we on right now? if they can't figure that out how can they identify all the rules of the universe God created.

    the universe is way too awesome to just be an accidental random event.
