Psalm 73-74

73:27
Those who are far from you will perish;
    you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.

I don't have much today but reading through these two chapters it felt like the writer felt a little like we feel today.  All sorts of bad stuff is going on in this world and God seems to be getting trampled right our of the US.  The writer seems frustrated and is asking got to take action.

At the end of ch73 is the verse above, noting that God will be taking care of everything in the end.  So it may feel like he is being trampled now but he is in ultimate control and has a plan, we just need to be close to him and all will be ok.   And for those who aren't it will be sad.

  1. chapter 73
    12 This is what the wicked are like—
    always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.

    I'm struck lately by how much human suffering there is in the world. I know you're probably saying, "duh!" But, I look at the successfull people around me, who aren't necessarily following God, and think some of the same thoughts as the author. But, then you dig a little deeper, and you see a lot more. Like my 21 year old cousin who I thought had it all together. At the family reunion last weekend, I noticed a lot of scars on her wrist. She too has problems, and she is trying to follow God. Or our neighbors, who I thought had it all together. Then we invite them over for dinner and learn that they are on the brink of divorce, and there is infidelity. Just lots of stuff. Everyone is living in this broken world. Everyone feels it groan. Just when I think I'm the only one that feels it..........I'm not. So, where was I going with this?.....oh yeah. This chapter reminds me that I need to keep my eyes on God, and not on the success of those around me that appear to be doing well.
