Psalms 88-89

Well, as 88 is my favorite number..... I was excited when I saw that's what was up for today.  BOY!  Debbie Downer!  Sheesh!

14 Why, Lord, do you reject me
and hide your face from me?

I do understand the frustration, to a point.  There are times when I have really earnestly asked God to show up, or to reveal himself to me.  And, sometimes he doesn't.  I know he has a much better plan than me.  And so I'm ok when he doesn't do exactly what I ask.  But, it does tend to feel like what the author is writing about.  Maybe not to the same level of desparation.  But, its there.
Even though, it's definitely a negative slant today.  There is a tid-bit buried in there that I think is good.  The author seems to really understand that eveything good comes from God, and he is desperate to be in the light.  He just can't find it.  Having strong enough faith to stay on mission, even when God isn't answering all of your prayers, is a really good thing!

Wow!  I'm the captain of run-on sentences this morning, in my writing, that I'm doing here, just like this one, for the blog.

  1. Well Captain Run On, you are correct 88 was a double dose of downers. But I also noticed the author's continued intent to seek the face of God, wanting to be in his light and persevering in that desire.

Ch 89 3 You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one,
I have sworn to David my servant,
4 ‘I will establish your line forever
and make your throne firm through all generations.’”[c]

These chapters caught my eye because of the promise to maintain David's throne forever. It caused me to do some research on David. I didn't learn anything that was brand new to me but sometimes reading a Wiki on a person quickly strings together many familiar stories and helps me paint the life picture in my head better than reading from the verses scattered throughout the bible. I am always fascinated by how much Christianity and Islam have in common yet in the end are in absolute conflict. According to the Wiki I read David is held in high regard in Islam as a prophet. We share many beliefs yet at some point the Muslim religion drifted and obviously is missing the truth in Jesus. I need to continue to get a deeper understanding of the history, I feel it strengthen my faith when I do.

    gotta run--knut
