1 Chronicles 29

The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

There were many passages that caught my attention this morning.  They were all around the idea of the people being happy to give whatever they could to the construction of the temple.  They gave willingly and rejoicingly.  I love that mindset.  It doesn't say they gave, but were really worried about how they were going to afford to fly to their destination for their next vacation.  It doesn't say they were hesitant because they were thinking about a new addition to their house, and that's really expensive.  It says they gave as their first priority and they were happy to do it.  Sometimes I get caught in my own plan.  Think about the plan of the guy sitting there in Israel.  If he chooses his own idea, how is he remembered in history?  Answer; he isn't.  But, they are remembered due to their willingness to follow God's plan over their own.
nice!

  1. 14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.

Very good take and I had a similar verse catch my attention. The recognition that all he had was from God which if you have that mindset then maybe you don't hold onto it so tight because it isn't mine to begin with. I should be willing to give it all to any cause he shows me. I try to give generously but I'm not at the level of giving it all away freely that for darn sure.

I was just talking with someone about this at church. I think I have to be careful not to say well I tithed so I've done my duty the rest is for however I want to spend it. I do think I fall into that trap a bit, tithing has become pretty easy mentally to do but honestly it probably has also become easier because what is left over is so much more than it use to be. Do I give sacrificially might be a better question to ask myself. this is the second time in a week it has come up, I need to listen maybe God is preparing an opportunity for us?
