10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[s]”
I feel this way sometimes.
16 16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[t]
I like the following lines. Its a very "hopeful" last sentence. For those stumbling around in the darkness.......a light has just started to shine, and will illuminate the path, from now to the end of time.
Again, there's so much that is happening in these chapters. I don't remember that from last time. I should go back and read what our response was last time. It's pretty exciting to think about this time in history. It's ALL about to change! God is about to fulfill a promise and give us a way to get to be with him. He must be amped up.

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him....17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
ReplyDeleteSo i'm not sure if this in chronological order. But it appears it is and it makes some sense to me. After Jesus faces the temptations from the Devil himself and casts those temptations away his is prepared to share his message for the rest of his life. He has faced more temptation than any other human has likely faced, he has fully experienced the human perspective and can completely relate to anyone he is sharing his message with. Maybe a time warp like twisting thought because he created everything so I'm not sure he needed to go through this with the Devil to have perspective...but those are my meek human discernments today.

funny I just read yours. we both used two verses today 10 & 16, 11 & 17. also the last time we read this was December 2013. i often pull up our comments during my pastor's sermon just to see what we were thinking when we read it together.
