Mark 3

16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

I'm always surprises that I can't name all 12 of these dudes.  You would think as important as they are/were...we would be able to name them all at the drop of a hat.  But, I can't.  I can get probably 5 or 6.  Sad.
That's why this daily reading is so important to me.  To start to recall the information, and to make it part of my daily thinking

  1. I like your transparency, I was having the exact same thought though I'm not sure I was going to lead with that if you hadn't written it. I was like Boanerges, I don't recall that at all. sheesh!

11 Whenever the impure spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” 12 But he gave them strict orders not to tell others about him.

I'm not sure I understand why Jesus would often tell people not to speak of their healing. It kind of contradicts my thoughts from the previous chapter that the healing created an opportunity for his real message and desire. He does it frequently. I did some digging and even pastors seem to have an array of thoughts on this topic, so their probably no more in the know than me. I would have thought having someone say they were healed would have even more impact than someone saying they saw someone was healed. don't get it.
