1 Timothy 4

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

This is one I think about a lot.  I do think God has blessed me with some gifts that could help further his work.  Right now.....I'm not using them.  Kim and I were both REALLY involved at the church for a long time.  Then, I got sorta burned out.  I need to step back in, in a meaningful way.  Do something that I feel God has prepared for me.  Not just because my kids need a small group leader.

peace.

  1. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

I agree with your comments. We were super involved in our church before we moved to Bettendorf. When we returned we were careful not to over engage, we needed the break. I then got very involved for a few years on the leadership team and now off for over a year and really not contributing much. Maybe its ok to ebb and flow but certainly we need to use the gifts God has given us. It doesn't have to be limited to church but I think that is an important element too.

We are always on display whether we know it or not, so living a a life consistent with our beliefs is what I read in the verse I chose. Its good for us selfishly but also good for the Kingdom.
