Genesis 14

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “With raised hand I have sworn an oath to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, 23 that I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal, so that you will never be able to say, ‘I made Abram rich.’

Keeping things pure, God had bless Abram by denying anything from the king of Sodom he helps keep that quite clear.  Not sure if there is a lesson for us in there or not about knowing where our blessings come from and/or making it clear to others we know too?

  1. I like the idea of keeping things pure. I often think about how I would handle situations, compared to how the Bible heroes did. I am more of a "i'll do this that you ask, but God knows in my heart that I'm against it" sorta guy than what Abram did here. He is outwardly planting his flag in the sand.
I think that's the key for me in my life. If there is an opportunity for me to stand up for God and stand in opposition to the world, I need to do it. I need to do it for me, but also for those around me that will see it.
