25 If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.
Seemed like an odd detail to me for God to care about. As I researched it I found that he also gives related instruction in Deuteronomy. Why? I found lots of opinions but the one that made the most sense to me is how that my change the focus. Instead of focus being on God it may become focused on the beauty that the human is able to create, who can build the best looking altar. His instruction even suggests humans will make it unattractive to him--defile it.
26 And do not go up to my altar on steps, or your private parts may be exposed.’
this one just made me laugh, so since you have no underwear your junk may show. what is this about?
