15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there is nothing better for a person under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany them in their toil all the days of the life God has given them under the sun.
I find this book pretty tough to gain insight from, kinda of depressing really. This verse aligns with life is short enjoy the ride. I do try to tell myself enjoy the ride or the journey. I can get focused on the destination, which at times can cause me to miss out on the experiences of the moment because I'm looking ahead to where I need to get. I'm better at that now, if you aren't yet you might be by November 11.

No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all their efforts to search it out, no one can discover its meaning. Even if the wise claim they know, they cannot really comprehend it.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Super depressing. A little bit like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. "Might as well not even try.....it's just gonna fail anyway."
I keep trying to look at this from the positive perspective. In other words, there isn't anything we can do that will change the overall outcome of earth. So, that should take off the pressure...right? God loves us no matter what we do. His plan still reign supreme. So, I don't have to worry about my own "toil."
I'm like you, in that I spend a LOT of time planning for the future. Trying to not put myself in a position of compromise. Will I have enough money to retire? Where do we want to retire? What trips can I afford? What toys can I afford? What is the best model for my kids? All that kinda stuff. It really takes work! But, This chapter/book is telling me to not put too much stock in my own plans. There are a LOT of things that could happen to make my plan irrelevant!
BTW - I'm a LONG way from Nov 11. I don't even know what you're talking about!
