17 A prophecy against Damascus:
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
Nothing real specific today, I've read it a few times. I guess we as a human race can keep an eye on Damascus, when it takes a fall Jesus return must be near behind. It is amazing after all of these years to see how that region of the world is still at the center of much of the world news--with all the violence and tensions its not hard to see a day when a place like Damascus could be wiped out.

6 Yet some gleanings will remain,
ReplyDeleteas when an olive tree is beaten,
leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,
four or five on the fruitful boughs,”
declares the Lord, the God of Israel.
I find this portion to be very interesting. Why not say it will all be destroyed? Why leave a little?
This reminds me a little bit of how the farmers were instructed to not harvest the corners of the fields. They were to leave some for the poor to come and take for themselves. What do you think? Why else would you leave a little?
hhmm..

hmm...not sure but i think more references to olive trees are coming in Isaiah 24. but i don't find explanation to leaving 2-3 olives among destruction
