18 18 Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
This verse is tucked in the middle of all the "woes." Most of the chapter reads of how God is going to punish for the behavior that speaks against him. And then this verse pops in. It's almost like, no matter what you do, and how bad you are....God still loves you and longs to forgive you. His compassion is endless.
That's good news for those of us that continue to choose our own path.

15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
ReplyDelete“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
like you said, the good news is he's waiting on us. Everyone has access to his salvation--thank you! We also have access to his strength. Sometimes we need to quiet our minds and just listen and trust in him rather than running off and making our own plans. I'm usually in control until it goes really bad and then I come running back asking for his help and protection. that must be very annoying, and yet he continues to love me.
