Jeremiah 19

15 “Thlis is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked and would not listen to my words.’”

I read over and over.  I couldn't find a verse that was striking.  In general it just feels like the message of listen to me and don't go off and replace me with other stuff or the result will be disaster.

It was addressing an entire community or society, but at the micro level the message applies to each of us a individuals as well.

  1. that's funny. The phrase that keep popping into my head is "...you stiff necked people"

What does Bible mean by stiffed neck people?

Question: "What does the Bible say about being stiff-necked?" Answer: To be stiff-necked is to be obstinate and difficult to lead. The term was originally used to describe an ox that refused to be directed by the farmer’s ox goad.

good to know. I also found a reference that says that phrase is used 40 times in the bible. Isn't the numerology of the bible crazy? 40 days and 40 nights....40 years in the desert.....weird.
