5 But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”
The message throughout this chapter is to obey God or suffer the consequences. Obeying requires understanding his direction for us, so being in his word like this and I would say it includes our prayers and instruction he places on our hearts. Don't ignore those tugs he gives you to take and action or change a behavior.
Now we have the ultimate Grace from Jesus actions for us but I don't think that is a free pass to just ignore God's instructions for each of us. I will say it seems scary to live in the times before Jesus like what Jeremiah writes about.

I'll be honest, after reading through the chapter I didn't really grab anything. Then I read your take and it spurred my mind a little bit. You are completely right in the overall concept of the book being to "obey."
ReplyDeleteI need to take a hard look at my life and find the areas where I disobey. I think there are probably places where I do it out of ignorance, and there are areas where I disobey willingly.
