1 Peter 5

7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.....

10And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

I am a worrier.  Over the years I have lost probably thousands of hours of sleep worrying about every little detail of life.  I am much better than I use to be but now much of my anxiety comes from thinking about my kids not my own circumstances.  These verses are a little pressure reliever, a reminder that God cares about me and my family and that life is short here on earth but we have eternity with him.

  1. We deal with anxiety.....massively, in our house. Max and Ben both suffer from pretty severe anxiety. It seems to be pervasion in our society. I think its great to read something like this, to know you don't need to worry, and it doesn't do any good anyway. But, how do you maintain that line of thinking? Don't you slip right back into the worry? Or is it like a muscle that you continue to work on it and it gets better over time? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it. Its something that I don't deal with and its hard to understand unless you deal with it.

  2. I think you hit it. It is like a muscle learning how to control my worry. Some of it has been our time in the bible. Some of my improvement is reflecting on how worrying didn't help anyway. Control what I can control and then adjust as reality unfolds instead of dreaming up all the negative possibilities. Gina is not a worrier at all--=she does pray a ton but doesn't worry--that would be nice.
