A couple of things hit me here.....Saul is so disconnected with God that he turns to a psychic medium.....WOW! We've been talking at church about how when you have sin in your life, and you aren't living the way you should....God doesn't always listen to your prayers. He can't get past the sin. I think that's where Saul is livin'. The second thing is that the medium was actually successful in raising Samuel, which to me lends some validity to the psychic power. I normally chalk up that type ghost/medium/pshychic stuff as garbage. But, here it is in the book I hold most dear. I think the reason that God tells us not to mess with this stuff, is because it tends to take our focus off of him, and places our energy and hope in something else.
