This chapter tells how David's sins of adultery and murder are now continuing with his children. A downward spiral of behavior that both punishes David's past sins but also negatively impacts the lives of his kids. Seems like a powerful reason to follow God's commandments, to prevent bringing future harm to our kids. Hopefully this illustration of kids following the model set by the parent also works for the good things, not just the sins.

ReplyDeleteI think about that all the time. I provide a LOT more negative examples for the kids than positive. As the leader of the household, we have the greatest resonsibility when it comes to the kids....and that scares me due to how I usually perform in that area.
But, I'm workin on it.
I'm guessing you are being a little too hard on yourself, but agree its a great responsibility we need to be aware of at all times.
