2 Samuel 24

David counted all the men that were able to fight, in Israel.  He counts 800 thousand in all of Israel, and 500 thousand in Judah.  Here again the tribe of Judah takes on its own significance, outside of the other tribes.....perhaps its due to the fact that it is the largest.....or perhaps some foreshadowing as to the historical significance of the tribe.

The second part of the chapter seems funny to me.  It seems that God is bargaining with David, a little bit.  Although, I guess I do the same thing with Max and Ben sometimes.  I call it the "Pick you punishment" game.  The thing I don't like is that God is ok with punishing the innocent, for something David has done.  David even says that in there....although, at the beginning of the chapter it reads that that God's anger burned for Israel.  Its pretty scary to read David's desciption of God in his song, in chapter........21 I think......and then thing about that God's anger burning against you!
No thanks!

  1. God's burning anger directed specifically at me--totally agree, no thanks to that one!
