6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? 7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
I like this simple clear illustration of how a little evil will impact the entire body. In today's world the desire to include everyone creates a dangerous situation where in some cases even the church body has consciously chosen to ignore some of Gods rules. The outcome will be bad, the entire body will be damaged.
I like how you completely skipped over the sexually immoral part....ahahaha!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment.
I also like the part at the end of the chapter where he is talking about non-believers, and how we are not to separate ourselves from them. I think he says something like we would have to leave the planet. To me, that's important. To stay in the mix of things to be a good example. Then the trick is to make sure you are more of an influence on the non-believers around you, then they are on you!
have a good one
I was talking with a friend at lunch today about this chapter. He and I have been talking about how there is a movement within the Reformed Church to make homosexual lifestyle an accepted behavior in the church.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how you can read the bible and get that out of it, this chapter seems pretty clear...but not just for sexual immorality but also being a drunkard, a swindler, etc.
Basically if you say you are a Christian but lead a sinful life and are repenting it sounds like your more dangerous to be around than someone living a sinful life but not claiming to be a Christian. Is that what you get from that statement?
thats exactly what I get from it.
ReplyDeleteReally?.....about Gay marraige in the Reformed Church???? I can't believe it! What is this world coming to? One important thing for us to realize is that just because the world accepts it.......God doesn't.
WOW! I'm amazed
