Genesis 8

10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf!

So, I'm not sure how to read that.  Are we to assume that the olive leaf grew in the 7 days that Noah waited here?  Seems strange.

I do like the detail though.  It seems to give credible evidence that the author knew what he was talking about.

I'm continually blown away by Noah's faith in God.  Not only to have built this thing, with everyone around him making fun of him, and mocking him.....but, now he's out floating.  It would seem hard for me to even have enough faith, after all the months, that God will eventually make the waters receed.  I would have a very CLOSE eye on my food supply, and the calendar.....planning it all out.  Knowing what day I would be screwed.
Maybe that's a good way to look at it.
I'm looking at the faith as being something that I'll need God to do by this date, or I'm in trouble.
Noah didn't look at it that way at all.  He seems to have complete trust that God will take care of them all the way along.

admirable. and something to work toward.

  1. I couldn't find any great explanation for the olive leaf, we just have to go on faith like noah for this one I guess. ;)
