6 Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:
He provided all the instructions of how he wanted things constructed and built but not only that he gave ability to do as he commanded. I notice the ability is a gift. People often say in sports he has a God given ability and I don't think they even realize how biblical that statement is.
I have taken spiritual gift assessments in the past but today's chapter is a reminder for me that for all of the things he wants me to accomplish or my church family together that he has given us the ability so first I need to be aware of the gifts he has given me and then I better not waste them because he gave them to me with a purpose.
I think I need to reflect on this some more, am i using the gifts he gave me for the purpose he has set out for me? not sure I can say yes because I don't recall asking him for direction lately its usually me asking him for help with problems i have identified.
knut
That's something I have to continuously be reminding myself of. What is my part is his mission, and am I doing it? Its much like Paul talked in Ephesians.....that every part of the body must work to complete the task, just like all the people must do their part for the church to work......that a good one!
ReplyDeleteThe thing that got me in this chapter is the talk of the Sabbath.......I think we have pushed that too far over the years. And I usually use Sunday to catch up on all the jobs around the house that need doing. I was always with it, because I believe that God made the Sabbath to rest. We need rest, to keep living and working efficiently. I understand that. Lately it hasn't been so good. Kim is now working for the church and it makes her really busy on Sunday, which in turn makes me really busy on Sunday. I don't like it. Yesterday was a particularly bad example. Kim needed us to pack up with her....(our church meets in a high school), and then to lunch. We didn't get home until 3ish.....then we had to quickly get the Christmas decorations down from the attic and put up the tree and all the brick-a-brack. So, there was about an hour of rest. Not enough for me.
Its something we need to work out as a family.
we did a study on the art of slowing. not sure it has stuck but it was about not filling up every hour of the day with activity and not being rushed. i don't like zero down time either. tough one to work out though too
