Leviticus 22

hhhhhhhmmmmmmm..........not much jumping off the page

32-33 “Don’t desecrate my holy name. I insist on being treated with holy reverence among the People of Israel. I am God who makes you holy and brought you out of Egypt to be your God. I am God.”

This is the last line in the chapter.  It is a good reminder for me.  Even though I need to have a personal relationship with the Living God.....I am still to understand that he is NOT on my level, and needs to be treated with reverence and awe.  Not only am I to understand the magnitude of God's greatness, but I'm not even allowed to say his name in a negative or irreverant way.
Think about how often in our society people do this.......desecrate God's holy name.
Why do people feel then need to use it as an expression of exclamation and negativity?
That doesn't even make sense......I'm thinking about people I know that don't even believe in God, and yet they are using his name in their every day speech.....but in a negative way.  This is a crazy world!

  1. i have had the exact same thoughts on peoples language and use of God. maybe its the devil trying to twist a knife in the back of God, maybe its some recognition of God even by a person who says they don't believe
