This chapter is HUGE for obvious reasons. But, I want to focus on something a little bit different here. This is the start of a monumental transformation of the disciples themselves. The went from being a group of dudes, who wouldn't even acknowledge knowing Jesus before his death, to a group that is huddled somewhere, laying low.....grieving and completely freightened about their future......to what we will see happen next.
There is no other explanation for their complete empowerment, and boldness than that they FINALLY got it, and they were inspired by the Creator and his Son to change the world. Jesus came and was exactly what we needed. It could have stopped there. But, it didn't, in part, due to the relentless work, and sacrifice by these same dudes that are right now huddled and paralyzed by fear.
What could he do with us if we could get to the same point of faith?
peace out.
have a great weekend
Wow what a take! I have never stopped to think of it that way and I definitely wasn't this time either, I was buried in the one chapter at a time moment. Pulling up a level like that is really a great view. Your view just increased my conviction of the truth of the bible. You are right why would these dudes go from denying and fear unless they came to believe and if they didn't believe when in the presence of Jesus and his miracles why would they begin believing after he was gone...unless they saw for themselves he was back! Their conviction was cemented. I just did a little reading on how they all died, 8 are said to have been martyrs, at least 2 crucifixions and 1 suicide. Judas killing himself really says something too doesn't it. great post today, have a great weekend. knut
