Jeremiah 21:2 NIV “Inquire now of the Lord for us because Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is attacking us. Perhaps the Lord will perform wonders for us as in times past so that he will withdraw from us.”
Well I'm not fighting a physical war but I was thinking my prayers sometimes might be just as ridiculous. Um God I know I haven't come to you lately or been acting in a way that honors you but would you mind taking care of this issue I'm having? Great thanks I'll be waiting.
Our prayer study book points out paul always prayed to futher the kingdom not to further himself. I'm going to really be trying to do this going forward.

Our small group went thru a study by Phillip Yancey on Prayer, probably 5 years ago. I think you are walking down the right path. The one word of caution that I would give you is to not go completely that direction. I found myself praying, in a macro scale instead of a personal micro scale. Does that make sense? I have found a decent rythmn in praying coarse to fine. In other words, pray for God's will for the world, pray for his will in our country, pray for his will locally, and then talk to him about your situation. But, always start with his viewpoint in mind. He wants to hear what's on your heart in your current situation in life, but also wants to know that you value his judgment over your own.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably telling you things you already know....but, this is what I've learned
What your saying makes perfect sense,I think you are right there needs to be a balance. What I do want to avoid is simply always bringing in my prayersa repetition ofcurrent aches and pains and try to focus on issues that matter cuz there are plenty of them.
