Jeremiah 27-29

I just kept reading this morning, until something hit me.  There is some good things in the first couple of chapters, but then I got half way thru chapter 29 and BOOM!

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I love this verse.  Its all positive in nature.  In reference to what we've been reading.....it must be funny for God to look down and see all the people trying to predict future events.   Mostly cause he's the one that is in control, not us.  We are so desperate to see what's coming.  When all we really need to do is look to him, and it'll work out.  We don't need to spend any time worrying about what is coming.  I have used this verse in talking to the boys, but never realized it was in Jeremiah, or the context in which it was written.

  1. great take and verse to keep close and always at the ready. its easy to get caught up in day to day lives and worry about decisions that have to be made at work or ramifications of communications...NONE of that matters. He has plans for me--and they are not for harm! I read this yesterday and again today and it really is a good one for me because I am a worrier. One of my team told me we have a $10M issue to communicate to senior leadership, I worry but I should not worry.

13 “Go and tell Hananiah, ‘This is what the Lord says: You have broken a wooden yoke, but in its place you will get a yoke of iron.

This one hit me this morning. We sometimes find obeying God's word a burden but the yoke of God is easy and if we break it look out we are bringing on burdens we can't even imagine--the yoke of not obeying is not so easy.
