Lamentations 5

Remember, Lord, what has happened to us;
    look, and see our disgrace....
19 You, Lord, reign forever;
    your throne endures from generation to generation.
20 Why do you always forget us?
    Why do you forsake us so long?
21 Restore us to yourself, Lord, that we may return;
    renew our days as of old

It appears the writer understands the people's actions earned their disgrace and he knows the Lord can restore them.  But I can't help wondering how long it would take after God would save them from themselves before they would forget and revert to their old ways.

I see it myself, when I'm in tough times I'm more apt to spend time in prayer then it smooths out and I try to take the reins again.  Probably not the point of this chapter but just something that came to mind as I read.  I need to find a way to break out of that pattern.  Our daily time helps me for sure but I need to do more.

  1. I find that pattern to be my goto........and I agree I wish I could find a way to stop doing it. What's making it worse, is that I'm not real happy with our church leadership right now....and that seems to be tainting my spirit. Not good. I find that I can go far too long without talking to God.

    I took it even farther away from the chapter....but that's ok, right? haha
