2 Kings 10

These chapters are tough for me to pull something meaningful from.....I'm sure its in there, but I'm not smart enough to see it.  This verse did catch my attention.
32 In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel.
I'm not sure why.  But, perhaps God was feeling the same way that I am reading it.  It feels like the people are splintering farther and farther away from the pureness they had under King David.  There are now multiple rulers, and multiple things they are worshiping.  I've heard an interesting saying that goes like this, "there's worst thing about christianity, is the christians."  Maybe God was feeling that if these are his people, and they are not representing him well....maybe its time to make the negative advertisement, a little smaller.

rambling, and searching for some meaning

  1. I found no meaning either, but then did a search on Sermon Central and found one that i skimmed.

29 But for all that, Jehu didn’t turn back from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, the sins that had dragged Israel into a life of sin—the golden calves in Bethel and Dan stayed. 30 God commended Jehu...31 Even then, though,Jehu wasn’t careful to walk in God’s ways and honor the God of Israel from an undivided heart. He didn’t turn back from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who led Israel into a life of sin.

it talked about making sure we are doing things with a pure heart for God. In this case Jehu did follow God's direction, in part but he also kept a selfish interest in other idol worship. Connected with these verses pointing out the divided heart is the verse you pointed out. With God its never about what we as humans can see on the outside its about what's in our heart. We can profess our faith all we want publicly but if that is not what is truly in our heart He knows. He always knows my heart no matter how well I might fake out people. The good side he also knows when I fall on my face and behave in a way that I don't truly intend to in my heart. Even if I could not convince someone else of my truly heart felt apology, he would know that I mean it. He sees the truth in my heart good or bad.

i had nothing when I started typing, I don't even know if this connects with 2 Kings 10 or not. ha
