1 Chronicles 22

I was reading along this morning, enjoying the story of David trying to pave the way for Solomon to have success....I can understand that desire.  And then I read this line at the end of the chapter.

19 Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the Lord your God.

This is perhaps the greatest nugget and reminder that I've pulled out of Chronicles that I can apply to my life.  David is speaking to all the leaders of Israel.  He is saying you are living in very fortunate times.  God has granted you peace and prosperity. Now this is what you should be doing......kinda sounds like today, doesn't it?

  1. Absolutely. The word seeking catches my eye too in this verse. Maybe God doesn't just insert himself into our lives--though he could easily. As a part of the free he has given us it is up to us to seek him out and have a relationship with him. I probably do the worst job of this in time of my greatest peace and prosperity.

13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the Lord gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.

From this I took how God blesses those who try to follow his instruction. It says here be 'careful to observe' which indicates its not something that just happens but takes intention and work to be successful in observing his direction. We also can't know his direction for us without being in his word. So for me it starts with getting into his word and getting his word into me. It starts at 530am each morning here with you 600mi apart but right next to each other getting into his word.
