Mark 8

29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

This feels familiar, me picking this verse.  I may have done it last time through.  This one hits me every time I read it.  This is the question that Jesus is asking all of us.  Our answer is the most important response we will ever give.  Then acting on how we respond.....

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Do you feel like you are "bearing a cross" for Christ?  I'm not sure I do.  I feel really blessed and very lucky in this life.  This is one to ponder.  It's not a quick thing to think about.  How am I sacrificing for Jesus and for my faith?....

  1. 35 For whoever wants to save their life[b] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.

My verse and thoughts are almost exactly the same words you used. I feel lucky, I don't feel like I am giving up too much to follow Jesus. Am I truly losing my life or at minimum ready to lose any of my personal desires any time he asks to follow Jesus?
