15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[d] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
Today's chapter is such a clear reminder that we can't serve 2 masters. We can only serve one. Therefore, we need to make a conscious decision.....everyday. Are we going to fit into the world?....or are we going to reject it? If I'm completely honest, I don't think I'm rejecting enough. I think I'm pretty comfortable here. I can't say "I love the world." It seems like a pretty dark, evil, hurtful place most of the time. But, I can navigate it.
just thinking out loud here.

In a similar vein to you, this one makes me think am I right with God. I love doing things with my family in years past I loved going to the lake with you guys, drag racing, husker football. These are all things in this world that I look forward to. I don't think he means avoid enjoying life but at the same time I guess there is risk in being too focused on these earthly pleasures.
