Proverbs 31

30 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I think this verse is universal.  I can feel its truth as I age.  My beauty has been fleeting....hahaha.  This is just another example of not buying in to the lie of the world, and staying true to Creator.

6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
    wine for those who are in anguish!

I take the meaning in this to be a little below the actual words.  To me, it means to be careful not to do anything that might dull you of your responsibilities that God has given you.  In this case, he is the king.  In my case, I am the leader of a family, and an executive at GM.  Those are my kingdoms.  I need to exist in those places with clarity and focus.

  1. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

    I just took note of how this very long section was about the greatness of a woman working almost behind the scenes while the man is labelled the noble character. I'm not going to say I'm the noble character but I for sure see how my wife is often making it happen behind the scenes and I am a big beneficiary of all she does. I need to make sure she is recognized not just by me but by others---because she makes it happen for us and others in our community and often times no one even knows it.
