I wasn't getting much today. I thought the Message verse 20 was kind of funny, like how stupid can you be you make a nice looking idol statue and then worship it like it has power. So I don't think we probably do that today but we do make things/activities/events that consume our time energy and thoughts and risk diverting our attention from God.

I think we do it all the time. But, not so blatantly. We miss God, by numbing ourselves to him. We fill our time with hobbies and TV and social media. Only to miss what we are supposed to be focused on. Not to mention the materialism....money grubby-ness....status caring society we all live in. When you read verse 20 it makes me realize that stuff is pretty stupid too!
