1 Samuel 25 -knut

32 David said to Abigail, “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me. 33May you be blessed for your good judgment and for keeping me from bloodshed this day and from avenging myself with my own hands.

couple quick thoughts--
-We learn of Nabal who is wealthy in worldly things, yet considered a fool---always good to keep that thought in mind.
-As the versus above suggests, even a good and faithful servant of God like David has weak moments and loses his cool sometimes.  We need to be guarded about our motives for our actions--when we are most emotional might be the most important time to slow down and ask God for his direction.

  1. Dude - that one is right smack in the wheel house. I've been thinking a lot about what the world value vs. what God values. Its a hard thing to live in a world and not let it effect you.

  2. Gina and I talk about this too. We just bought a new to us Acadia but we did struggle with do we really need it, we could buy something a lot cheaper. We landed on its okay to have nice things if #1 you are giving your tithe with your first fruits and also generous with other donations all done with a joyful heart and #2 that the possession, in this case the Acadia is not something your holding on too tight too and would be devastated if you lost it--not and idol.
