Ephesians 1

Its curious how Paul starts this book uniquely from the last 2 that we read.
He begins by acknowledging God's ultimate power.  Its almost like he feels that he need to re-establish the hierarchy of things to the people of Ephesus.  Paul has such a grasp of what is really important in life.  He doesn't pray that the people of Ephesus are successful, or that their marriages are blessed....although I think those would be important....he prays that the people might use and recognize the "ultimate power" of God, that he has freely given to us....to be closer to him.  That's a pretty deep mindset. He definitley has the bigger picture in mind.

I think its great how he pumps them up a little in the beginning.....get the troops excited about themselves, and about God.  Cause I know he's gonna blast em later. After all, these letters that Paul writes are usually to get the church back on track when he hears they are floundering.

have a good one

  1. 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms

Crazy to think about how our belief and faith in him gives us access to the same power he used to raise Jesus.
