this first chapter starts out with a resounding "Glory to God"....
this one starts out with a "we are not worthy....we all need help"
then Paul starts into a "can't we just get along" speech. I can't imagine the Jew vs Gentile issues that must have been going on in those days. It seems that it comes up in every one of his letters. It must have been really difficult to be separate groups....separate by beliefs, traditions, and culture....and then all of the sudden have someone come along and say that both groups are ONE now.

ReplyDeleteSo while we can't get to heaven through our own good works, he makes it clear we are to make good use of our time doing good works. later knut
