19 “Bring the best of the firstfruits of your soil to the house of the Lord your God.
“Do not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
first fruits in ch. 22, your comments on giving, our pastor yesterday spoke about everything we have is a gift from God and challenged us to think about our lives and are we giving firstfruits back to him (his references were from Deut.) and today another firstfruits reference.
So the chapters arent focused on this but I keep getting this message, maybe he is trying to work on me? I was feeling ok but maybe I need to reflect more on my giving. this will be what I add to my prayer list today, for him to show me how and where I should be giving.

I've been working hard on this one myself. Not just in terms of money, but also time. Am I giving God the first and best of everything I have? Or, am I giving him the convenient left-overs. I've also been talking to the kids a lot about this. In a world where what you have is the measure of your importance, its so hard to counter act that influence, and convince the kids that all the good stuff goes to God.
ReplyDeleteNot an easy lesson for them......not an easy lesson or practice for me.
I need to talk about this with our kids too, sometimes they seem a bit entitled because we provide them everything they want. I like how you share with your kids, its something I need to get better at doing. Even sharing the struggle we as adults in being faithful is good for them to understand.
