31 Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless,
for he will get nothing in return.
Eliphaz is coming at Job a 2nd time trying to put him in his place as he thinks Job has lost his way blaming God for his situation. I'm not sure what to make of his lecture but I thought this line made sense. I shouldn't deceive myself into feeling secure by my own means or accumulation of wealth here on earth. It is worthless, all of my trust needs to be placed in Him and everything else will take care of itself.

Man, am I behind. I take 1 week off, and look what happens.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you wrote for this chapter. We tend to think of comfortable and secure when we have adequate money, and wealth. Then, we don't need to worry much. When in reality that isn't what truly brings us comfort. I think that's why some of the poorest people on the planet are sometimes the happiest. I think the are forced to understand that they are sustained thru God's grace. They can't rely on their own means, and are forced to acknowledge their dependence on him. Its a really good lesson for us, who have so much.
I heard a sermon this weekned about the Proverb that states that iron sharpens iron.....and I immediately thought of you and our blog.
Keep it up and don't let me slide. I'm counting on you.
