Jeremiah 3

12 Go, proclaim this message toward the north: “‘Return, faithless Israel,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will frown on you no longer, for I am faithful,’ declares the Lord, ‘I will not be angry forever. 7 times the word return shows up in this passage and at least 3 times in a statement by God of return to me and I will take care of you. So no matter how badly we have behaved towards God or how frequently we have disobeyed He is telling us to return--come back to him and he will be there for us. This is not to say we should abuse this quality of him, but I do take it that we should know that he is there for us no matter how badly we have screwd up and he wants us to return to him so he can care for us. knut

  1. Ok, so here's my strange viewpoint for the day.
We are going through a series at church right not that deals with your habits/hurts/hangups. Talking about our own bad behavior due to the influences in our lives. Its geared to give us some tools to move past addictions, and overall bad behavior. It has been a really good series. When something makes you change your daily life, in an effort to be closer to God, that is an awesome thing.
In reading the chapter for today, and then reading through your blurb.......it just strikes me. We are set up to fail. If we are living in a broken world, and we are broken, and we are full of sin, and to quote Paul, "I really don't understand myself at all"......we really can't do anything right!

My question is......why is it set up this way. Why does Israel continue to turn its back on God...again and again, and again. Why do we choose to do what is wrong, even when we know we are doing it? Why can't we stand up for God, when we know the situation is right in front of us, and that's what he wants us to do?

    Maybe its just Monday morning.
