Numbers 27

13 After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was,

Wow, during my reading these 4 words 'gathered to your people' caught my attention.  So I did a quick Google to get a reference point on what this means.  Well 25 min later I still don't know for sure.  I do know that many people before me have asked the question and many others have tried to explain it--and they use a lot more than 4 words to do it.

So I don't have any clear take away although my research showed me there are connection points all over the bible to 'gathered to your  people' and it certainly seems to be some reference of joining others who share your faith and lineage in heaven.  But some would say this is very specific to the lineage of Moses and does not apply to us or others--I really don't know.

interesting--what is God's message in this for me, why is it so important that he documented it in the bible for you and me?

  1. I'll take a stab in the complete darkness.
Our life is like a blink, in reference to eternity. I think of our earthly life as a "waiting room" at the doctor's office type of experience. How you act in the waiting room affects which doctor you see. Now, think about the fact that every person who has been "called" out of the waiting room is existing in ont of the rooms behind the glass, where the doctors are. All the people that have died are gathered together, in their proper allegiances. If you think about it that way, when you die.....you are joining your people, or gathering with your people.....for eternity.
I think that phrase is really tough to wrap your head around, mostly because we look at our earthly lives as the main attraction.....and it really isn't. Flip the script and the line makes more sense.

wow! I blacked out there for a second. What did I say? =)

  2. Ha! I love your perspective, I totally think of my life as the main event but it is truly a blip. It's an important blip though as the decision of the heart during the blip impacts my eternity. Thanks for your perspective, I teallt appreciate you
