13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place....
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
I am noting the importance of having time alone with God. Jesus in this chapter twice goes to be alone with God and pray--the first time maybe not successfully as people followed him. I often feel very busy, no down time for myself or with God. The time I have right now in the mornings is probably the only time I have truly alone and quiet, I think it is time I need to always protect and make sure happens. Without out it I will let the busyness of every day squeeze out my connections with God.
also random wondering...when the extra fish and bread showed up did it just appear instantly? how did they not notice when a new piece or fish showed up in their baskets?

Jesus consistently spent time in prayer.....lots of times for the entire night. To me, that shows the importance of it. But, like you, I spend a lot of time being busy. It needs to be a consistent priority. That's my New Year's resolution.
