Zephaniah 1

7  Be silent before the Sovereign Lord,
    for the day of the Lord is near.
The Lord has prepared a sacrifice;
    he has consecrated those he has invited.

I read through this a couple times, it appears this is a prophecy of the very end of times.  As far as I could see every verse was explaining what will happen and to whom, except this verse.  This is the only one with an instruction for us...Be silent before the Sovereign Lord.

How often I do I follow this instruction...I can answer that not very often.  This is possibly my one time in the day and even it is short and can be interrupted with thoughts of work or a quick check on some scores on the internet.

We have the creator to ourselves anytime we want yet the noise of the day is always in the way.

  1. I'm fully on board with what you are saying. I'm exactly the same way.....and I know it.....I think about it.......but, I don't change it.

    At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps
    and punish those who are complacent,
    who are like wine left on its dregs,
    who think, ‘The Lord will do nothing,
    either good or bad.’

    This is the verse that grabbed me. I think most people live in this mindset. They don't see God working in their lives or in the lives around them. They see him doing nothing, good or bad. His evidence is everywhere. We just have to chose to see it.
