Jeremiah 45-46

45:Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.’”

I know this statement was directed to Baruch, but I think there is an element for us as well.  Time and effort focused on bringing great things to myself is a waste.

He goes on in 46:27 “Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant;
    do not be dismayed, Israel.
I will surely save you out of a distant place,
    your descendants from the land of their exile.

He saves his servants, not those serving themselves.

  1. Sometimes I can convince myself that serving him vs serving myself is a very fine line, with lots of gray. But, its really not. Its pretty black and white.
    I struggle to keep my mind focussed on putting him first.
