12 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite....10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous[a]—it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,
Everyday we make choices in life and as humans those choices include sinful ones. In this case they became jealous of Moses relationship with God. Moses had done nothing to create the jealously, in fact God tells us he was the most humble man on the entire earth so their feelings had nothing to do with his actions. God had chosen him to communicate with directly and speak through Moses instead of them. But instead of focusing on their own relationship with God and the gifts he had give each of them they chose to look towards Moses and belittle him and look for flaws in him to knock him down.
The end result of their sin was that someone else got hurt, both Moses and his wife. I need to be aware that my sins not only hurt me and my relationship with God but also may damage someone else I love. Being aware of this fact may help change my harmful and sinful behavior. It should be enough to avoid sin to show my love for God, I probably shouldn't need any other motivation but in reality it seems I could use the help.

Is it wrong of me to wonder how the conversation first started between Aaron and Miriam. I would bet you it was a "Adam and Eve" scenario. I bet it was Miriam that started chirping in Aarons ear. And because he was a typical man....he started to listen.
ReplyDeleteIs that wrong? Probably not PC, for sure
You talked about the fact that Moses was deemed to be the most humble man on earth...don't you find sometimes those are the people we target the most? The people that are really doing it right, tend to draw my ire.
You hit that nail right on the head when you said that we should be focused on our relationship with God, and not be worried about what other are doing. If we stay focused on him, the rest will come esay.
