Leviticus 11

So, this one is always a tough one for me.  This is explicitly clear.  These animals that have these traits are not to be eaten.......but then there's this

Jesus is quoted in Mark 7:14–23 as saying "There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him ... whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly"; and in. Matthew 15:10-11 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." These statements are often cited for support of the view that practicing Christianity does not include dietary restrictions.

seems like a new directive.

I guess this is one this is one of those times when I need to realize that God is smarter than I am, and my treasure is in the obedience more than the understanding.....not that obeying is hard here.  The restrictions don't apply to me.

have a great weekend!

  1. Thanks for reminding me what Jesus said on this topic. I do look forward to understanding why God found it necessary to layout this detail before Jesus came. I guess obedience, but still these rules are just odd.

Pretty sure I could have laid off all the 4 legged insects, so at least I would have been obedient in that regard.
