4 But to the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance, since the food offerings presented to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he promised them.
Twice in this chapter it mentions the tribe of Levi does not get an inheritance--at least not one of this world. I researched the tribe a little more I see they were very faithful to God, they were not seeking rewards and inheritance of this world.
For me its another reminder to be careful not to hold on too tight or worry too much about the tangible things I can acquire now but to spend more of my time and energy focused on getting closer to God and serving his purpose. I think I need to be reminded often...
did you find any reason for the "no inheritance" in your research? that seems a little strange to me, if they didn't do something specific to warrant that....great take
ReplyDeleteHere is one thing I had come across---
ReplyDeleteThe Levites were set aside to play a positive and essential role attending the high places and other local altars to Yahweh, since no central shrine yet existed. In the words of Joshua 13:33: "To the tribe of Levi, Moses had given no inheritance; the Lord, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he promised them."
