This phrase struck me in The Message version. It struck me because of the word "friend". I really like that word choice. Even though there is obvious passion between these 2 people, he still refers to her as a dear friend. To me, that's where it all starts. I'm not always good at communicating the things to Kim that I need to....like the fact that she is far and away my best friend. And, I would rather spend time with her, over anyone else. I should probably tell her that, huh?
I like your take and yeah that would be a good thing to tell her! do it today, we never know if we have a tomorrow. I have the same issue and even had some anxiety recently that I was not being a good husband feeling a bit distant. I tried to strike the conversation on the topic but she told me I do it plenty so I guess I'm good. ha. with all the activities of life with work, kids stuff its easy for the relationship to take a back seat. i don't want that, i want to feel close to her. maybe this chapter will good for me, the first chapter just left me wondering what to comment on.
