Jeremiah 50-51

51:64 Then say, ‘So will Babylon sink to rise no more because of the disaster I will bring on her. And her people will fall.’”
The words of Jeremiah end here.

Well I spent the last two days on these two chapters and all I can say is pheeeww.  So Babylon is going down, that I know.  From the research I did there are many who say that the prophecy is yet to be fulfilled.  There is so much in these chapters and in Jeremiah in general that I think requires more research than I am able to do or even fully understand.

So its difficult for me to draw any great insights other than unrepentant disobedience of God's direction has eternal consequences that none of us should want to experience.

  1. I find this stuff to be really interesting, but I don't have the hutspuh to really dig in and try to find the answers. I did look up where Babylon was in the world, and it looks like it is modern day Iraq.......south of Baghdad. I also found some cross reference to the book of Revelation where it talks about Babylon being a great city in the end times. That's really interesting. I'm not really sure if we are looking forward to the destruction or rearward to it. Jeremiah does talk a bout it being a wasteland that is almost uninhabitable. From all the videos and photos that I've seen of Iraq, it defintiely fills that description.

    its all interesting.

Man you are right.....I'm not sure we've read a more detailed description of how things are going to be destroyed, and to the same level of details that is used here. Yikes!
