35 Jesus wept.
Not sure why but this just caught me today. So I did some research and found there is s lot written on the shortest verse in the English translation (not all translations--one thing I learned) of the bible. What I learned is there are a lot of different opinions on why Jesus wept and people can write a mountain of material on 2 words.
So then I said, well why do I need someone else to tell me what it means? I can use the brain God gave me and try to discern myself and through asking him.
So my take, he wept not because of death which he knew he would reverse. But he wept because he loves us and seeing Mary and Martha in so much pain from the loss of their brother truly touched his heart and the fact that he was truly experiencing all that a human experiences brought him to tears.

It says early in the chapter that Lazarus was the "one that Jesus loved". Perhaps his human side, like you said, was mourning his friend.
ReplyDeletethe other part that caugh my attention was the part where he talk to the Father. He says, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me," One thing we talk about is not hearing from God, and not having a clear line of communication with him. I believe this to be the sin in my life....Jesus had no sin to taint that relationship. Therefore he had a clear path to speak and hear from God. Can you imagine that? If we could just let go of our selfishness, and really cling to him. It would be fantastic.
Some day........your dad is already there.
I can't wait.
Yep, you are right on the money it will be a great day! thanks for making me think of how my dad is doing, I miss him but love thinking of him!
