Luke 1

41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit

I started in on Luke this morning.  A couple of things struck me.  1st is how often in the bible God gives babies to people far beyond the years of child bearing....and that child is of great significance.  It happens over and over. Second, is the verse above, it makes me think of the pro-life fighters.  To think the baby in the womb isn't really human until it's born....and then you read this! Unborn John recognized Mary!  That's incredible to me.  Makes me think of when Kim was pregnant with Max and we went to a KC and the sunshine band concert.  He was dancing in there like crazy.  Funny to think about.

anyway.  Nothing earth shattering today.  just observations

Shake your booty, shake your booty...yep no life in there yet.

3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

I was just taking note that Luke was pretty intentional about making sure he was documenting history. From other readings I did I recall he was a physician and had a great command of the Greek language. Maybe most interesting he a non-Jew, the only author of a NT that clearly was not a Jew.

So he mentions many have written about this, maybe more than survive in the bible as we know it today. With his education his writing has even more impact on me. He witnessed miracles that as a physician had to be even more stunning to him than maybe others and yet he knew they were true and wanted to document them. As a non-jew, he knows Jesus is for everyone not just the Jews.

I like learning more about these authors, I wish I had more time to dig in every time I read.
